Heart Disease Symptoms Fingernails

In this article I am going to tell you about the connection between the health of you heart and fingernails.

For many years it has been debated whether there is a connection between fingernails and heart conditions. Today scientists are certain that every change regarding initially healthy fingernails is connected to health issues. I tried to find out about those changes that are related to heart conditions and I will let you know about my findings.

Before I begin to enumerate these changes I must tell you that if you observe any of these, you should see a doctor in the shortest time possible.

Various things can be indicators, regarding the nails. For example the color of them. The first clue of a heart disease might be red nail beds. At this point it is not known what kind of heart disease we are talking about, but it is said to be a sure alarm. One should also be alarmed, if he/she notices tiny black streaks on the nails, because these also indicate heart problems. It could also mean heart issues if one observes white lines in or across the nail, but this could also indicate liver disease, kidney disorders or a lack of iron or zinc in ones diet. White lines might also show high fever or arsenic poisoning. If the white moon area turns red there is a high possibility of an undetected heart disease. If initially healthy nails turn blue, then the person in question might be suffering from an undetected heart condition. If the fingernails are simply pale or white then we should see a doctor, because we might have a disease and it could easily be a heart problem.

Not only the colour of the fingernails can indicate a problem, but the shape as well. For example nails that tend to curve under at the tips can mean heart, liver or respiratory problems. There is a deformity of the fingers and fingernails called clubbing which can indicate a number of diseases, mostly of the heart and lungs. Below you can see a picture of the clubbing of the fingernail.

The red line shows the outline of a clubbed nail. Short or small beds might be also an indicator of heart disease.

It is also believed that certain fingers are associated with different health issues. In our case, heart problems can be indicated by the middle finger. This finger can also indicate problems regarded the circulation.

As I already mentioned, the lunula (white moon on the fingers) can be an indicator. But not olny the color of it, but the size also. It is said that if the lunula is too big, then the heart and circulation is working overtime and it may result with the overworking of the heart. If someone has less than eight lunulae might also be associated with heart problems.

Vertical ridges and split nails might also indicate a heart disease, but it might mean other diseases as well.

These findings teach us that we should teka care of our nails not only for their aesthetics, but for the health of our heart as well. We sould be careful to watch our heart and fingernails.
